Literally there are Pirates everywhere you look in Walt Disney World and rightfully so. Lets start with a little movie call “Pirates of the Caribbean the Curse of the Black Pearl”. You may have heard of it. Well this little movie has been SO popular that it is doing something that you may not realize. This single movie has CHANGES the course of popular American Culture. Yes this one movie.
Let me explain. This Phenomenon turned almost every kid…and adult into a pirate at Halloween (I’m guilty I was one, too). If you don’t think this is true. Think back to last Halloween and I think you might just see a trend (a lot of little Jack Sparrows running around). From toys, to movies, to the History Channel who had “The Real Pirates of the Caribbean” and so on. It has become a fascination of this country so much that many different parts of our culture is trying to grab on for the ride.
In Walt Disney World alone they’ve change one of there signature ride to accommodate the movie with the same name. They’ve added the “Pirate and Princess Party” which in my opinion is one amazing “PARTY”…don’t miss the fireworks…and Captain Jack Sparrow!!!! It seemed like every child and adult were dressed as PIRATES (once again, guilty I was a real pirate for the night)!!! Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is now having Pirate of the Caribbean activities around the lake at the resort. Disney is even offering “Pirates of the Caribbean: Adventures on the 7 Seas Lagoon”. This is a whole weekend devoted specifically to “PIRATES” with treasure hunts at different ports, guest speakers, Pirate Pin trading, and collectibles.
It truly is amazing to have something right before our very eyes that has indeed changes the course of America culture. Maybe someday 15 to 25 years from now you’ll be at a Disney Theme Park with your kids, grand kids, a friend or just by yourself and look around and see kids and adults still dressing up as “Pirates”. You can think to yourself “I remember when this all started with Pirates of the Caribbean the Curse of the Black Pearl”! Pirates truly are every where!
